Behind the scenes at Beach Weddings

October 10th, 2007

My wedding planner told me that there was a lot that goes on behind the scenes at Beach Weddings. Here is a little story that she relayed about our own wedding.

After years of coordinating weddings, I just coordinated my first beach wedding. I was really excited about it because the beach is my favorite place, not to mention that it requires little decorations to make it beautiful for a wedding. What it did require, however, was sound equipment so that the music and pastor could be heard by all. The comedy of errors starts here and fortunately ends with a very happy bride and groom and an extremely flawless ceremony.

The sound board was a comical undertaking as I’d never run a sound board before. Fortunately, the keyboard player was familiar with the task and did a fine job of getting everything to sound great. She also wisely recommended a tent to cover all the equipment in case of a sprinkle which is not uncommon at the beach, even while the sun shines.

While I do bring a large supply of items, including those orange extension cords, sewing kits, safety pins, lighters and even towels to wipe wet chairs, I have never even considered having to bring a tent!

So, after I finally found enough extension cords to reach the approximately 50 yards from the beach house to the sound equipment (no joke, it took 7 cords), I then had to set up the tent. Just in time too because not 5 minutes after all was set up, a huge rain cloud brought threatening thunder. Fortunately it never rained, so the chairs and the towels stayed clean and dry.

I, on the other hand, looked like I had been caught in the rain. It was really hot and sunny the whole day with the exception of that rain cloud that hung around for about twenty minutes. I had arrived at noon to do all this setting up for the 4 PM ceremony. I was running approximately 50 yards to and from the beach house carrying chairs and extension cords and the sound system and, oh, the tent! I was a glistening, sweaty mess.

My car was parked down the road a bit to leave room for guests to park, otherwise, I would have gone and changed into the extra shirt I brought. Instead, I greeted guests with sweat marks on my shirt, frizzy hair and a big smile.

When all was finally prepared for the wedding to begin and I was able to stand still and give directions to the wedding party. What a day and what a bunch of work that “simple” beach wedding was!?

Wow, I had no idea. I was just enjoying the fact that everything went so perfectly. Amazing what goes into something like a wedding huh? Thanks again for all of your help.

Charleston Condos

October 1st, 2007

This is a cool site about Charleston Condos.

They are going to be very sweet! The construction is concrete and steel rather than the wood that most condos are made of. That will make a huge difference. I don’t know if you knew but Charleston was hit by a HUGE hurricane named HUGO about 20 years ago. Wood buildings were crushed like twigs by the 150+ MPH winds. Having a concrete place is a great idea here and the prices are similar to the wood counterparts.

Anyway, thought you may want to take a look when you can.

Charleston and Hilton Head Videography

August 5th, 2007

One of my websites is called Charleston Wedding Videography. It is used to capture some of the keywords and searches that my other website about videography doesn’t capture. It has been a great site and even though we don’t work on it very often, It does get some hits. Another site I use for the same method is Hilton Head Videography. It is used for searches related to Hilton Head, SC.

Both of these sites are used to promote my main Charleston Videographer site where I display my demos etc.
